How I work

Two ways to work together

I am not running a fund, and I work with a small number of clients and partners at a time.

01

Transaction Advisory

You are weighing a deal or a market in Latin America and want an operator's read from first look to final decision.

Or you are buying or selling a home, a vacation home or an investment property, often from Canada or the United States, and want someone independent in your corner to tell you the implications of each point and decision, what the other side is after, and how to respond.

Either way, you get the key points, the red flags, and my recommendation if you want it. The decision stays yours.

02

Operating Partner

You have a specific opportunity and want an operator alongside you from first look to exit: structuring the deal, putting the right local team around it, and staying on the ground throughout. Where a piece is outside my lane, I bring in the right person.

Client perspective · Transaction advisory

When I started working with Matt, I was overwhelmed by the emotional aspects of making a decision to sell or rent my home. I wanted to exit, but a part of me wanted to hold on and it was creating confusion with my team. I had a great agent, but her focus was on the transaction.

When it came time to double-check all of the information, Matt was there to both educate me and bring an alternative perspective that was ultimately in my best financial interest. He was calm, measured, and clear.

This is the second home I’ve sold in my life and I’m beginning to think that everyone should have a third party like Matt to help support them in making all those little decisions that add up at the end of the day. Many thanks, Matt!

Case studies

Most of what I look at, I pass on.

What I observed, what the evaluation found, and why I did or did not move.

Writing

One letter a month, from the ground

What I am seeing across Latin America: markets, deals I passed on, and why. No promotions.
